Little Jewel Cinema sapphire Season 19 may - 8 august 2007

 

Welcome to the Sapphire Season, the third season of films in the Little Jewel Cinema.

To launch this season of films Waygood is delighted to welcome Alison Knowles and Alan Bowman to the Little Jewel Cinema, for a weekend of Fluxus performances in A Flux-on United Front. Alison Knowles is a founding member of the Fluxus group (1962). She last performed in the UK at Waygood in 2004.

Their marathon of performances on Saturday 19 May in and around the Little Jewel Cinema will include sewing, cooking and sound and creative chaos. The performances will continue into the evening during the preview event for LITTLE JEWEL CINEMA’S SAPPHIRE SEASON from 7pm screening all the films from the forthcoming season. We are also pleased that this evening is part of The Late Shows, in which we join with other cultural venues across Newcastle Gateshead to open our doors late with special events until 11pm.

Alison and Alan’s choice of Fluxus inspired films launch this, our third season of Little Jewel Cinema. We are also delighted to have contemporary Fluxus derived works from Michael Cousin, Steven Ball, Erica Scourti, Rob Kennedy and films created especially for the peephole cinema by regional artists commissioned by Piggyback.
