Waygood is Changing -
What's happening on High Bridge?

We are about to start an exciting period in partnership with Newcastle City Council. We will work with Rok Construction to redevelop our two distinct buildings; a Grade II listed shop front on High Bridge and a 1920s six storey warehouse transforming them into major new city centre venue.

  • Our new Galleries will offer an exciting programme of art exhibitions, residencies and live events.
  • Our Studios will provide workshop facilities, including fully accessible studios for a community of studio and associate artists.
  • Our Learning Centre will offer artist led learning and workshops linked to the programme and will include the Sir James Knott Trust Library & Archive.
  • Our Café, Bar and Club will bring new, relaxed, alternative venues to the centre of Newcastle including an outdoor café courtyard and rooftop terrace.
  • Waygood Art Boutique will be the best place in Newcastle to buy art and affordable artist made gifts.
  • First floor office and workspace will be available to let for businesses and organisations.

“Northern Architecture are thrilled that the exciting plans for the renewal of Waygood are coming to fruition. The building will be an excellent example of contemporary architecture in its own right. It will show how intelligent and creative design can express the spirit of its own times as well as breathe new life into the fabric of an old and historic place.”
