Waygood Launches Boutique selling art on High Bridge
Waygood launched its new selling gallery on 1 May 2008. Waygood Art Boutique is a place for buying and collecting contemporary art, located at 31 High Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne.
From unique small presents to an investment in a piece of art for the office or home, Waygood Art Boutiquewill offer a choice of work by a selected group of artists associated with Waygood.
A frequently changing exhibition programme will showcase art by different artists. The first exhibition will feature works for sale by Helen Baker, George French and Kathryn Johnson until 16 May 2008. More art and information on all artists can be viewed in a digital portfolio within the Waygood Art Boutique and online at www.waygood.org.
Gallery staff and artists will be on hand to advise on choosing, purchasing and displaying art for investment or pleasure!

Waygood Art Boutique is part of Waygood's supporting artists programme, promoting the work of artists associated with Waygood, by profiling their work in the Boutique, online and at national and at international art fairs.
Waygood Art Boutique will be open between 11am and 3pm Wednesdays to Saturdays at 31 High Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1EW.
Commission from all sales will go to support Waygood's new Learning programme, as part of its redevelopment to create a new city centre cultural venue in the heart of Newcastle.
Waygood Art Boutique is open on High Bridge whilst Waygood's £7.8million capital redevelopment programme takes place on the buildings behind. It will also serve as an information office on Waygood's redevelopment and on-going programme.
The redevelopment of Waygood will create:
- New Galleries which will offer an exciting programme of art exhibitions, residencies and live events.
- Artists' Studios will provide creative facilities, including fully accessible studios for a community of studio and associate artists.
- The Learning Centre will offer artist led learning and workshops linked to the programme and will include The Sir James Knott Trust Library & Archive.
- Café, Bar and Club will bring new, relaxed, alternative venue to the centre of Newcastle and will include an outdoor café courtyard and rooftop terrace.
- Waygood Art Boutique will offer the opportunity to buy art and affordable artist made gifts and will open from Easter 2008.
- First floor office and workspace will be available to let for businesses and organisations.
Waygood's capital redevelopment has been funded by both national and regional funding sources including TyneWear Partnership via Single Programme Funding from ONE North East, lottery arts funding through Arts Council England, part financed by the European Regional Development Fund, Newcastle City Council, Northern Rock Foundation, The Sir James Knott Trust and The Barbour Trust.
