Welcome to the Jet Season the fifth season of films in the Little Jewel Cinema.
The JET SEASON showcases the works of artist Ben Jeans Houghton. After graduating in Fine Art from Northumbria University earlier this year Houghton went on to exhibit his sculptures in Trauma Queen, a group exhibition in Athens, running alongside the Athens Biennale. Now Waygood's LITTLE JEWEL is pleased to give Houghton the opportunity to show his films in his home town.
By arranging seemingly familiar images, environments and objects in an unfamiliar way, Houghton's methods of creation evoke unexpected emotions and perceptions in his audience.
The first four films of the season, 1106, Void, Perdu and Untitled Animation are individual pieces by Houghton. Following this is Up/scape by Matt Giraudeau. The season culminates in a collaborative film by Houghton and Giraudeau and a launch of their book between 4 - 6pm on the 23rd February 2008. These joint ventures proved to be an exciting opportunity for two individuals with different styles and methods of work to come together as a creative whole.
The LITTLE JEWEL CINEMA, JET SEASON preview is between 4 - 6pm on Saturday 24th November 2007, we hope you can join us. There will be live performances from film maker and performance artist Cai Nyahoe and mulled wine and hot chestnuts to fight off the chill.
The Mobile Cinema will be screening a selection of films from other artists practicing in the North East. We hope you enjoy all the films in the JET SEASON of the LITTLE JEWEL CINEMA.
