Transparent Radiation 2007 by Michael Mulvihill
Michael Mulvihill makes drawings using graphite pencil on paper, of landscapes that are in a state of flux caused by an imagined catastrophic emmission of radiation from a nuclear device or a deadly cosmic event such as a supernova. The work responds to a sens of menace and fear of absolute annihilation the artist experienced during the later years of the Cold War.
