just one drop by jonathan Carr
Just One Drop draws from elements of advertising, painting and graffiti functioning as both an advert for and an example of aesthetic experience. It merges the colours from graffiti, and the one line slogans from advertising to produce an experience that is witty, hedonistic and seductive.
The title of the work, Just One Drop was chosen as a provocation to taste, as a temptation to try something forbidden. The work was made by building layers of text and layers of scanned paint marks and merging them together so that it becomes difficult to see where the lettering stops and the paint begins. The lettering advertises the painting and the colour seduces the viewer into reading.
