What is the bloody point?   by Topsy Grewlike & flickr friends

What is the bloody point? is a composite image made from original photographs  by three quivr members and combined by Topsy Grewlike into a questioning image about suffering, the artistic gaze and personal identity.

Four men have collaborated to play afresh with a dadaist concern with masculine pain, creativity and identity in contemporary life, especially as it now manifests itself through the new media of the internet.

Topsy made the wax arrows seen in this image and are part of his quivr project. These arrows are being used by a group of over 40 photographers on www.flickr.com to provide a unifying thread for their wide range of subjects.

The Quivr project first began with the idea of researching, via a visual project , the relationship between the real world and a virtual community. The arrow was chosen to be the object because it is a symbol most of us use to navigate our way on screen with the mouse pointer.

Fifty five of these photographs can currently be seen in Byker Metro Station, Newcastle, on the quivr bykr flickr billboard.
